Wilhelmena "Peachy" W. Turley Obituary (1911 - 2012)

Corydon, Indiana Wilhelmena W. 'Peachy' Turley, 100, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN. She was born in New Middletown, IN on March 6, 1911 the daughter of Henry F. and Henrietta Charlotte Kraft Winterkorn. She was half the graduating class of 1928 at New Middletown High School as there was one other girl in the class. She earned a degree in bookkeeping from Spencerian College in Louisville. She was a bookkeeper for Sharp Oil Company in Corydon. She was a member of Pfrimmers Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, was financial secretary of the church, secretary of the church cemetery foundation, treasurer of the Ruth Circle of United Methodist Women. She was a Director of the May and Joe Rhoads Memorial Fund and the Harrison County Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program, American Bible Society 'Bible of the Month Club' since 1974, Royal Neighbors of America and the New Middletown Homemakers club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband-William Kenneth Turley, her brothers- Arthur Adam and Henry F. Winterkorn and her sister Wenonah Pendleton. She is survived by One Son- Wayne Turley of Paris, IL One Daughter- Doris Knight of Corydon, IN Five Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN. Burial will be in Pfrimmers Chapel Cemetery near Corydon. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Corydon on Wednesday from 1 PM to 8 PM and after 9 AM on Thursday. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Pfrimmers Chapel Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
