Ramona Young

On August 31, 2025, Ramona Lee Young (nee Holbrook), a vibrant soul known for her captivating charm and unwavering spirit, parted from this world. Born on July 9, 1936, in Thornton, Kentucky, Ramona lived a life rich in love, laughter, and the pursuit of her passions. Ramona’s hands were rarely still, as she channeled her creativity into her work as a cake decorator. Her cakes were not merely desserts, but edible masterpieces that brought joy to countless celebrations and occasions.

Ramona's life was the embodiment of service and communal spirit. She was a devoted member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church, where she fostered a sense of unity and fellowship. Despite the challenges that life presented, Ramona faced them with an indomitable spirit and a smile that could light up a room. She was a beacon of strength and resilience for her family, setting an example for her daughters, Rebecca Banet and Elaine Sands, and her grandchildren, Jesse Banet, Amanda Banet, Christopher Sands, and Marilee Sands Snider. Her joy multiplied with the birth of her great-grandchildren, Zachary Snider, Jaxson Snider, Gabriel Segre, Jessica Banet, Hudson Sands, and Emalyn Sands. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pluma Jean Holbrook, her brothers Clark, Johnny, and James Holbrook, her sister Jane Crawford, and her grandson David A. Sands.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 10:00am EDT at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home - Georgetown, with the funeral service following at 1:00pm EDT at the same location. Burial will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
