Obituary for Donna JoAnn Teigland

Donna JoAnn (Zielke) Teigland, 87, died Monday, April 9, 2018 in New Albany. She was born in Coldwater, Kansas on June 28, 1930, the daughter of Herman and Martha Bauer Zielke. In 1936, she moved with the family to Corn, OK, where she attended school and grew to adulthood. She received Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1944 in Corn, OK. In 1950, she moved to Sidney, NE, where she worked at the Sioux Ordinance Depot operating a machine to install primers onto projectile shells. Donna met Glenn Burnett Teigland in Sidney, NE while he was in the military and on December 14, 1952 they were united in marriage. The couple lived in Sidney for a while longer and then in 1953 moved to Minneapolis, MN where Donna worked at Kreskes Department Store as a waitress in the restaurant. In 1956 they moved with their children to Waukegan, IL and lived there for 26 years. Donna worked at Goldblatts Department Store as Manager of the Yard Goods Department. In 1982, they moved to Fort Worth, TX where she worked at Best Products store as a Customer Service cashier. In 1992, they moved to Grygla, MN where she worked at May Corporation and at Motel 89 cleaning. They also enjoyed attending the Community Bible Church. In 2010, after Glenn’s passing, Donna moved to Georgetown to be closer to her children. From 2012 to 2017, Donna lived at Yellowwood Terrace in Clarksville where she enjoyed senior living around other seniors and lots of enjoyable activities. She also enjoyed leading songs at the the Sunday services at Yellowwood. In November 2017, Donna moved into Lincoln Hills Health Center where she lived the remainder of her days. She enjoyed living at Lincoln Hills where she played bingo, enjoyed craft activities and made many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Teigland; siblings – Victor Zielke, Adrian Zielke, Winifred Wagner, Bertha Cornish, Riley Zielke, Ernest Zielke, Erma Zielke; 4 brothers-in-law Claude Wagner, John Cornish, Harold Taylor, Stan Weaver and 4 sisters-in-law – Lois Zielke, Charlotte Zielke, Jean Zielke and Viva Zielke.
Donna is survived by her four children:
2 Sons: Garry (Margie) Teigland of Georgetown, IN and Ronald (Lisa) Teigland of Grayslake, IL.
2 Daughters: Jenell (Keith) Jacks of Georgetown, IN; Marilyn Ryman of Lenexa, KS
2 Brothers – Virgil (Joy) Zielke and Forrest Zielke
3 Sisters – Gertrude Weaver, Esther Taylor and Elva (Charles) Anderson
11 Grandchildren: Chuck Jacks, Andy (Kristine) Jacks, Stephen (Rebecca) Jacks, Patricia Linn, Caleb (Kirith) Ryman, Katy (Nathan) Stavig, JoBeth Ryman,Logan Ryman, Benjamin (Abby) Teigland, Rebekah (Peter) Riefstahl and Brita (Bronson) Mulligan.
13 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Randy Trowbridge will officiate. Burial will follow in Edwardsville Cemetery.
