Janice M. Bays

Janice M. Bays, 83, died Friday, November 10, 2023, in New Albany. She was born in Georgetown, Indiana on August 10, 1940, the daughter of Edward C. and Laverne G. Stark Vaughn. She was a retired customer service representative for Union Planters Bank/Regions Bank. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Harrison County Homemakers and Harrison County 4-H. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bays, Sr., brother, James E. Vaughn and sister, Judith Ann Mattingly. She is survived by three sons, John Bays, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri, Jay P. Bays of Ramsey, IN, and Jaime L. Bays of Georgetown, IN; one daughter, Jolene Downs of Palmyra, IN; Brother, Jeffrey Vaughn of Fredericksburg, IN: and three sisters, Jean Vaughn of Lafayette, IN, JoAnn Jeffries of Louisville, KY and June King of Corydon, IN; 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon. Visitation will be 2-8 PM on Tuesday and 9-10 AM on Wednesday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Corydon. Pallbearers will be Denver Bays, William Downs, Michael Downs, Jake Bays, Jeremy Vaughn, and Lee Childers.
