Father John Francis Minnich Obituary (1926 - 2011)

New Albany, Indiana Father John Francis Minnich, 85 passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany, IN. He was born in Garrett, Indiana on July 30, 1926 the son of Clement M. and Louise E. Mies Minnich. He was a priest of the Diocese of Gary, Indiana. He began preparation for his life in the priesthood at the age of 14 at Sacred Heart Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a member of the Marion Movement of Priests, was an aluminus of St. Meinrad where he attended from 1945 to 1951 and was ordained on May 19, 1951 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne. He served many parishes including St. Peters in Fort Wayne, St. Matthew in South Bend, St. Joseph in Hammond, St. Marys in Crown Point, Our Lady of Grace in Holland, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Hammond,St. Thomas More of Muenster and St. Annes in Gary from 1967 to 1996. A funeral mass will be held at 3 PM Friday, December 30, 2011 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Lanesville, IN. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a visitation held at the church from 1 PM to 3 PM. Arrangements are being handled by Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN. Visitation: 1 PM to 3 PM Friday at St. Mary\'s Catholic Church in Lanesville Funeral: 3 PM Friday at the church Interment: Burial will be in the church cemetery
