William Thomas "Bill" Houghton, 82, died Thursday, March 18, 2021 at his home in Georgetown, Indiana. He was born July 23, 1938 in New Albany, Indiana to Harry "Tom" and Mary Elizabeth Soergel Houghton. Bill retired from Xerox Corp after 35 years of service as a Service Tech, he was with the Georgetown Vol. Fire Dept for 18 years, serving as Assistant Chief where he oversaw the training procedures. He was involved with Ohio Valley Rescue Squad and served with Civil Defense from 1965 into the 1970's. Bill considered himself a Handyman and enjoyed scuba diving, photography, hunting, guns, model railroads, and trolleys. Bill served as Georgetown Trustee for 10 years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 45 years Sally Ann Graft Houghton, whom he married April 4, 1959. He is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Billie Fetz Houghton, sons, Gregg Houghton, Michael Fetz, Kurt Fetz; daughters, Victoria Ann Houghton, Cindy Messmer, Julie Coleman and Heather Lucid; brother, James Houghton; Thirteen grandchildren and 7 Great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville, Indiana, Father Bob St. Martin will be the Officiant. Visitation will begin Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Monday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, Indiana. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana. The family suggest in lieu of flowers donations be made to Crusade for Children.
