Thomas "Tommy" Lee Kean Obituary (1970 - 2022)

Corydon, IN Thomas "Tommy" Lee Kean, 51, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at IU Health West Hospital in Avon, IN. He was born April 8, 1970 the son of William F. and Sandra L. Fox Kean in Vincennes, IN. He was the owner and operator of his own trucking business and a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, IN. Tommy was a proud member of the Seed of Abraham Motorcycle Club where he was a former chaplain for the Indiana chapter and current vice president of the national chapter. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard from May 1989 until May of 1992, during which time he participated in Operation Desert Storm of the first Persian Gulf War. He then was involved in undercover operations with the US Army from October 1993 until July 1995, taking part in Operation Vigilant Warrior, also in the Persian Gulf region, as a corporal and medical specialist in the 101st Airborne Army Rangers. Those in-demand skills led Tom back to Iraq as a security officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom from April 2009 until April 2010 and Operation New Dawn from December 2010 until March 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Mike Kean; and grandparents, John R. and Clara E. Evans Fox who were very influential in Tommy's life; uncles, Sherman "Red", Kenny, John "Pete", Bill and Jimmy Dale Fox and aunt Dorothy Frye. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dana Engleman Kean; sons, Matt Kean (Fabi) of Angleton, TX and Elijah Kean of Potosi, MO; daughter, Jennie Kemp (Devin) of Fredericksburg, IN; grandchildren, Aniyah Kean, Evie Higgs, Lorelei Higgs, Graecie Higgs, Sophia Kean, Zeke Kean and one on the way; brothers, Scott Hatfield (Amy) of Lawrenceville, IL, and Johnny Kean (Misty) of Hymera, IN; sister, Star Boffro (Tommy); uncles who were more like brothers, Steve Fox of Bicknell, IN and Donnie Reed of Vincennes, IN; father and mother in law, John and Marcia Engleman; brother in law, Sean Engleman; best friends Mike Devine (Nancy) of Vincennes, IN and Paul Ingle (Elisabeth) of Depauw, IN. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and cousins. Many who know Tom know he liked to help anyone and was able to continue after death with organ donation. Tom's wishes were honored with cremation. There will be a memorial and benefit motorcycle ride in Tommy's honor, tentatively set for July 2, 2022. Details are pending at this time.
