Rev. W. Byron Mitcham Obituary (1920 - 2015)

Georgetown, Indiana Rev. W. Byron Mitcham, 95, passed away Monday October 5, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Pike County, Alabama on April 27, 1920 the son of Curtis Eugene and Eula Spencer Mitcham. He entered the US Navy, where he served over 30 years as a Lieutenant Commander and Chaplain. He was a veteran of WWII and Korean War. He was ordained following WWII and made Chaplain and was a Minister for 70 years, serving in Louisiana, Alabama and Indiana. Upon retirement from ministry he founded Pastors Prayer Group of Ministry in the Minister Center for Southeastern Indiana, New Albany, Indiana. He was a member of Harrison Hills Baptist Church in Lanesville, IN. He is preceded in death by his wife Thelma Marie Jones Mitcham and grandson Richard Andrew Mosier. He is survived by One Son- Michael Lynn Mitcham(Gwen) of Georgetown, Kentucky One Daughter- Terissa 'Terry' Mosier(Rick) of Louisville, Kentucky Two Granddaughters- Virginia 'Ginger' Mosier of Philadelphia, PA and Dr. Elizabeth 'Betsy' Mosier Thornberry (Christopher) of Kennesaw, GA. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, Indiana. Ron Burgess will officiate.
