James L. Gunther, Sr. Obituary (1928

Corydon, Indiana James L. Gunther, Sr. 86, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at his home. He was born in Corydon on October 17, 1928 the son of Louis and Ethel Gehlbach Gunther. He married Margaret E. Baumgart on May 1, 1953. He was a rate clerk for the old L&N Railroad in Louisville for almost 30 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lanesville and was an Army veteran during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret and an infant brother, Max Eugene Gunther. He is survived by Three sons- James L. Gunther, Jr. (April), Gary W. Gunther ( Elaine) and John P. Gunther (Kim) all of Corydon, Indiana Five Brothers-Clifford Gunther (Dolly), George Gunther (Jane) and Earl Wayne Gunther all of Corydon, Indiana Ronald Gunther (Laverne) of Utica, Indiana and Phillip Gunther of Clarksville, Indiana Six Grandchildren- Tiffany Gunther Brown, Bethany Meek, Angela Gunther, Stacey Mattingly, Christopher Gunther and Courtney Hardsaw. Four Great Grandchildren- Kaiden and Jaxon Brown and Carter Hardsaw and Myles Kinney. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lanesville, Indiana. Pastor Christopher Truelsen will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 12 PM to 8 PM Tuesday, February 24, 2015 and from 9 AM to 10 AM Wednesday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, Indiana. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or School. Pallbearers will be Scott Gunther, Chris Shireman, Russell Baumgart, Jeff and Doug Frederick, Nathan Cates.
