Obituary for Helen M. Haggard

Helen M. Haggard, 87, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born May 14, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Merle E. and Della Danavage Krause. She was a homemaker, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was a former 4-H leader for 22 years, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, Indiana since she was a senior in high school, where she was a member of the Alter Society and the Resurrection Choir. She was a member of the Indianapolis Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, was former president several different times of Church Women United of Harrison County. For over 20 years she ran a restaurant at the Breckinridge County Livestock Center while her husband had livestock sales. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, A.B. Haggard, her son Michael Haggard and a grandson, Michael Cline. She is survived by her son Stephen B. Haggard (Terri) of Corydon; daughter-in-law Brenda Haggard of Corydon; and sister Carole Mattingly of Corydon; grandchildren, Aaron Haggard (Carrie), Adam Haggard (Stefani); Courtney Owen (Thomas), Dawn Faget and Sarah Cline and 12 Great Grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon. Father Rob Hankee will be the celebrant and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8:30 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2017 and from 9 AM to 10 AM on Wednesday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN. There will be a Rosary Service at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to her church.
