Obituary for Bruce Dennis Thompson Sr.

Bruce Dennis Thompson, Sr, 83, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 in Ellisville, Missouri. He was born November 1, 1934 in Washington, D.C. the son of Robert Lester and Josephine Hefferman Thompson. He was a 1952 graduate of Flaget High School in Louisville, KY and a graduate of University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy. He was owner and operator of Davis Drug Store in Corydon, IN for over 25 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Denise Marie Orwick. He is survived by his wife 61 years, Mary Lord Thompson of Corydon; one son, Bruce Dennis “Denny” Thompson, Jr. (Terri) of Wildwood, MO, daughter, Sherry Noon of Lawrenceburg, KY, son-in-law, William Isaac Orwick Sr. of Floyds Knobs, IN and a sister Marilyn Stengel of Louisville, KY. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, William Isaac, Jr., Andrew (Jenna), Max Orwick, E.J., Marc (Amy) and Molly Noon and Bruce Dennis, Thompson, III; great grandchildren, William Isaac Orwick, III and Ryan Elkins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon. Father Rob Hankee will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 PM to 7 PM Thursday, January 4, 2018 and from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to either the Alzheimers Association or to the Hospice of the donor’s choice.
