Mildred Allen Reed passed away November 18, 2011 in Greencastle, Indiana. She was born January 15, 1919 to Mary and L.G. Allen in Casey County, Kentucky and was preceded in death by her husband, Elvis L. Reed. Mildred is survived by daughters Valerie (William) Best of Greencastle, Indiana and Lynnette (James) Enlow of Madison, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Flatter, Christopher (Susan) Enlow and Douglas Enlow; and great-grandchildren Andrew Nicoson and Levi Enlow. She is also survived by six step great-grandchildren and four step great-great- grandchildren.
Mildred lived in Corydon from 1948 until 2007. She was a member of the Corydon Christian Church for over sixty years and served the church in a variety of capacities. She was a valued employee of the Jay C Store for more than twenty- eight years, first as a cashier and then to assist shoppers when she returned to work after the store was remodeled.
Following a time for visitation at 1 PM, a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Corydon Christian Church on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2 PM. Should friends desire to acknowledge her passing, in lieu of flowers, please consider giving to a favorite charity in her memory. Burial will be private.
